In this beginner-friendly workshop, we will create our own watercolor pigments from natural minerals using a 2-step process.

Students will use a mortar and pestle to grind the pigment, and a muller to bind the pigment. Afterwards, we will learn a handful of watercolor techniques, and create handmade cards.

Beginner Photography

6-week course

Join this beginner photography course at the Peoria Art Guild. Designed for adults seeking a strong foundation in digital photography. Through hands-on practice, guided discussion, and weekly critiques, students explore camera basics, exposure, composition, lenses, and lighting. Students will end the course with a final portfolio critique of their best work.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to take technically sound photographs, understand basic photographic terminology, and begin expressing their creative ideas through imagery. In addition to building skills, students will become part of a collaborative community where they can continue to grow and learn from one another. Come learn, experiment, and spark your creativity in a supportive environment!

Come explore painting with a palette knife! We will start with simple landscapes and you will learn how to block in shapes and mix paint for that beautiful sky with maybe a few clouds. From distant mountains to foreground color will be the key. You can be as abstract (loose) as you feel comfortable or detailed (tight) if that is your style. No previous experience necessary and as easy as spreading butter.

4-Week course for Adults

Study the techniques of history's great painters in this 4-week acrylic painting class for Adults. Students will explore the styles and methods used by famous artists while creating their own interpretations. Through guided instruction, you'll learn foundational painting skills such as color mixing, brushwork, and composition.

By the end of the class, students will complete 2-4 finished paintings and receive a set of paint brushes to keep. Perfect for beginners and intermediate painters looking to build skills while exploring classic artistic styles.
