Papermaking Workshop

Workshop for Adults

 

In this beginner-friendly workshop, we will make our own handmade paper from paper scraps. Techniques involved will include stencil-making, "drawing" with pulp, and embedding natural materials. We will also make our own 5x7" mold and deckles to take home. Students' handmade paper can be taken home right after the workshop. 

 

All materials provided by the Peoria Art Guild.

Intro to Letterpress

Discover the art of letterpress printing in this hands-on introductory class! Learn the basics of handset type, inking, and printing techniques using traditional letterpress equipment.

Whether you're new to printmaking or looking to refine your skills, this course will guide you through creating custom handmade prints. Leave with a set of your own prints to take home.

Beginners welcome! All Supplies are provided by the Peoria Art Guild. 

Relief Printmaking

3-week course

In this class, you will learn the basics of relief carving and printing using blocks and relief gouges. Students will see examples of various work from different artists, experiment with carving and inking a block, and create an edition of their own prints. They will also have the chance to use an etching press and work in a print studio.

Must be comfortable using sharp carving tools

Payment plan available: $40 deposit plus 2 payments of $40.00, paid weekly.

Gouache Painting

In this 6-week painting class, students build skills step-by-step, from mastering paint consistency and color mixing to layering, composition, and finishing techniques. Through guided exercises and approachable projects like still life’s, botanicals, and landscapes, students learn to control opacity, develop strong values, and translate scenes into simplified shapes. The course finishes in a personalized final painting, with time for refinement and group critique. Technique-focused yet supportive, this class is ideal for beginners and developing artists alike.

 

Payment plan available: $35 deposit plus 4 payments of $35.00, paid weekly. Final payment of $40.00.

Beginner Watercolor

This 4-week beginner-friendly watercolor course is designed to teach students how to control water, mix color confidently, build depth, and create expressive paintings while overcoming fear of mistakes.

The course finished in a personalized final painting, with time for refinement and group critique.

Color Theory Workshop

This one-day workshop is a quick step into color theory. We will look at artists’ work and create our own color studies. This is a good class for beginners, and for those with more experience who want to dive deeper into their use of color.

 

No art experience needed. Bring your own art materials, or work with provided oil pastels.

Palette Knife Painting

Come explore painting with a palette knife! We will start with simple landscapes and you will learn how to block in shapes and mix paint for that beautiful sky with maybe a few clouds. From distant mountains to foreground color will be the key. You can be as abstract (loose) as you feel comfortable or detailed (tight) if that is your style. No previous experience necessary and as easy as spreading butter.

DIY Weaving
