Basic Painting for Kids

Instructor: Marissa Justiniano

Department: 2D

In this beginner painting class, you learn the very basics of how to use watercolor, acrylic, and gouache! You will also explore different types of brushes and techniques while making at least one painting per class in a six week period. Your imagination will be tested as you craft your own illustrations, and your skill with drawing and painting will be kickstarted as you do many activities involving the things you see around you. Once the class is over, I hope that the things in your everyday life will become the subjects of your art, or that anything you dare to daydream of can become a wild new painting!

Basic Drawing for Kids at the Shoppes at Grand Prairie

Instructor: Marissa Justiniano

Department: 2D

In this beginner drawing class, we will be covering how to draw what we see by understanding how to build from shapes while also measuring. We will mostly be doing still-lifes so we can learn how to render shadows and get various tones out of an object with just graphite. The basics of both one point and two-point perspective will be taught so we can create minor illustrations set to a fun prompt in order to flex our creativity. Along the way, we will also cover the basics of the figure. By the end of the course, I hope the artist in attendance can more comfortably draw things that they both see with their eyes, and in their head!

Preschool Art Fun

Instructor: Jaci Musec

Department: Kids

This class provides a fun and dynamic way for Preschool-Age and Pre-K children to develop their own creativity, sharpen fine motor skills, and build confidence while meeting new friends. We’ll explore many different ways to create, getting our hands into lots of different mediums: Paint, Clay, Collage, & more- to create special & unique works of art!

Ages 3-5, Preschool or Pre-K (Must be potty-trained!)

Kids Clay Handbuilding at the Shoppes at Grand Prairie

Instructor: Marie Lindahl

Department: Kids

Students will learn how to mold pieces of ceramic clay to make a variety of pottery sculptures. For three weeks we will create multiple pieces using simple tools, clay and water. The final week students will get to paint the pieces with underglaze. Projects will then be fired to be picked up at a later date.
