Beginner Drawing

Instructor: Angela Risinger

In this beginner drawing class, we will be covering how to draw what we see by understanding how to build from shapes while also measuring. We will mostly be doing still-lifes so we can learn how to render shadows and get various tones out of an object with just graphite. The basics of both one point and two-point perspective will be taught so we can create minor illustrations set to a fun prompt in order to flex our creativity. Along the way, we will also cover the basics of the figure. By the end of the course, I hope the artist in attendance can more comfortably draw things that they both see with their eyes, and in their head!

Palette Knife Painting

Instructor: Laurie Moore

Department: 2D

Come explore painting with a palette knife! We will start with simple landscapes and you will learn how to block in shapes and mix paint for that beautiful sky with maybe a few clouds. From distant mountains to foreground color will be the key. You can be as abstract (loose) as you feel comfortable or detailed (tight) if that is your style. No previous experience necessary and as easy as spreading butter.

Intermediate Drawing

Instructor: Ian Cooper

In this intermediate drawing class, we will continue to practice measuring in order to create very accurate drawings, as well as push more of our technical perspective skills with landscapes and architecture. We will also further develop our sense of the figure by doing numerous head studies, all in different positions. This is a five week, two hour class, intended for artists who have a basic understanding of drawing and would like to build their skills even more!

Sip and Create: Alice in Wonderland Collage

Join us for a whimsical, mixed-media collage Alice in Wonderland-themed workshop! Using a wooden board as your canvas, you’ll bring your own version of Wonderland to life with fabric, pictures, quotes, and a variety of fun embellishments.

This is a relaxed, hands-on, BYOB-friendly class perfect for a creative night out. All materials are provided, and no experience is needed. Each collage will be completely unique, just like your imagination!

In this class, we will create fall themed prints! Printmaking creates such a rich learning experience by giving kids ample opportunities to explore art materials. Kids can achieve impressive prints through a fun and simple process. They will also have the chance to use a real etching press!
